Product Description In this transcendent collection, Daniel Ladinsky-best known for his gifted and best-selling translations of the great Sufi poet Hafiz-brings together the timeless work of twelve of the world's finest spiritual writers, six from the East and six from the West. Once again Ladinsky reveals his talent for creating inspiring, profound, and playful versions of classic poems for a modern audience. Rumi's joyous, ecstatic love poems; St. Francis's loving observations of nature through the eyes of Catholicism; Kabir's wild, freeing humor that synthesizes Hindu, Muslim, and Christian beliefs; St. Teresa's sensual verse; and the mystical, healing words of Hafiz-these and other spiritual writers considered to be "conduits of the divine" make up this rich and luminous collection of "love poems from God."

Truly Love From God 02 January, 2008 The poems reflect a deep intimacy with the Divine, & the Divine's unconditional, wild, passionate love for us. The many & varied faiths & Masters represented in this book are a delightful experience of the universality of the Divine's relationship with us. It never fails that if I ask prayerfully for a poem to fit whatever state I'm in at the time & open this book randomly, the message given is always full & fruitful.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires a closer walk in the spiritual life.

Great Gift! 23 January, 2008 This is an exhilarating book! It was my favorite gift to give this past Christmas, with a wonderful response. Half the poets are Sufi, and I was unfamiliar with most of them; the other half are Catholic mystics, all of whom I know, but I did not know these poems. I am hoping that a scholar of Catholic mystics might review here and let me know how much of the translation is wishful thinking. The author seemed to reserve that right.

Mystical, reminds Me Of The "song Of Solomon" 15 September, 2008 very well translated; understandable expressions of ancient mystics' religious experiences; some passages quite sensual; mini-bios help with understanding of authors; profound, ecstatic experiences expressed beautifully; I read this when I want to be inspired to continue on the path.
