Editorial Review / Publisher's Information:
Product Description Every day, everywhere, babies are born. They're kissed and dressed and rocked and fed--and completely adored by the families that love them. With an irresistible rhyming text and delightfully endearing illustrations, this board book is an exuberant celebration of playing, sleeping, crawling, and, of course, very noisy babies doing all the wonderful things babies do best.

Lovely Book
16 October, 2009
This was my son's first "favorite book." He received it when he was 1 year old and we read it over and over and over again. (He is now 5 and reading on his own, and he still loves this book.) The text has a lovely light-handed meter and doesn't wear on the adult reader with a sing-song rhyming scheme, but it is really the illustrations that make this a great book.
We really enjoyed being able to linger over the richly detailed illustrations with questions about what was in each picture. "Where's the balloon?", "What baby has a hat on?", "Find the kitty" and "Who is on Daddy's shoulders?" It helped our son focus on the book for longer than the 2 minutes that it takes to read the text and it gave him an opportunity to use his speech skills as he was developing them.
It is also wonderfully inclusive of different looking families and that didn't hurt either. Everybody is not growing in a "Dick and Jane" world and it's good to see books that aren't too lazy to recognize that.

I Purchased This Book Because Of The Inclusiveness
04 January, 2010
I go out of my way to find books that depict diversity in a positive light. The illustrations are so well done. I love the inclusiveness. I love the same sex couple and the interacial couple and the fathers chatting about their kids during a playdate. I wish there were more. Some other good books "Whoever You Are" by Mem Fox, "The Family Book" by Todd Parr, and you can't go wrong with Unicef books. I had to write about how wonderful this book was when I saw that there were 4 negative reviews..and I can only imagine why. What a shame.

Everywhere Babies
08 January, 2009
This is a wonderful book! It is very inclusive with many different types of families. Also, my daughter loved this book as a small baby and still loves to read it as a 4-year old. As she went through the different developmental milestones as a baby and young toddler, I liked to point out the things that she could do now that she couldn't do before (crawling, talking, walking, etc.). This is a real favorite of mine (along with anything by Mo Willems "and Tango Makes Three").

Adorable And Fun For Babies And Parents.
11 June, 2009
My 14-month-old baby loves this book to no end. She loves the catchy rhymes and rhythm of the text and the pictures are realistic enough for her to completely identify with them.
I personally love the theme of baby growing up through the book and each time we read it together (that means at least 10 times each day), I get very sentimental remembering all the great "firsts" and moments in her life so far. I love being able to tell her how proud I am of her at the end of the book.
I noticed that some readers were offended due to the possible homosexual agenda of this book and I would like to say that after reading it numerous times and taking note of all the illustrations, I never once felt that it was preaching. I have sat on a bed with my baby and my adult sister and I have seen brothers and male friends walk arm-in-arm on numerous occasions. The scenes depicted in this book are all perfectly natural and not overtly sexual or insulting in any way. Please don't let the negative reviews make you think this book is some sort of gay pride fest. Your kids will love it, and you will too.

A Favorite
14 November, 2009
I'll start by saying this has been a favorite of both my children (ages 21 months & 6 1/2 yrs). The rhyming text flows beautifully and it's illustrations are colorful and detailed. My only drawback to this book (as other reviewers have pointed out) are a few of the illustrations depicting same sex couples. While this is an acceptable lifestyle in the eyes of many, it is not something that is condoned in the bible. While one of my children (the 6 year old) has (limited) knowledge of this practice, he also knows what our values and morals (as per the bible) say on the subject. Therefore, I do not try to "hide" every mention of such a lifestyle, but use it as a teaching opportunity. At a very young age (0-3 years) he did not even notice these pictures and so it was not an issue. My daughter as well has not taken notice of these illustrations, she very much enjoys listening to and looking at this book.
