Product Description With more than 700 mushrooms detailed with color photographs and descriptive text, this is the most comprehensive photographic field guide to the mushrooms of North America. The 762 full-color identification photographs show the mushrooms as they appear in natural habitats. Organized visually, the book groups all mushrooms by color and shape to make identification simple and accurate in the field, while the text account for each species includes a detailed physical description, information on edibility, season, habitat, range, look-alikes, alternative names, and facts on edible and poisonous species, uses, and folklore. A supplementary section on cooking and eating wild mushrooms, and illustrations identifying the parts of a mushroom, round out this essential guide.

Audobon Editorial Style 14 November, 2007 Audubon requires that regardless of the subject, a certain format and presentation guidelines must be adhered to.
This severly limits information in finding various species and the pictures limit the variety of views a hunter needs to identify a find accurately.
Pretty book but not for the serious hunter.

Perfect For The Nw 27 November, 2007 I really needed this book with all the different mushrooms that we have wild in the NW area where I live. The pictures are beauiful and easy to find the mushroom you are looking for in the book.

Worst Mushroom Book Ever Seen 05 July, 2008 Don't buy it, it's a useless book, why a book without scientific names can work, the paper look like a pocket bible, amazon put this book as it were important but shouldn't be there.
