Editorial Review / Publisher's Information:
Product Description "Who was she?" That was the first thought that came into my mind when I saw her in the bookstore.
Who was she really?
She's Belinda. She's sixteen years old. She's the object of one man's ultimate fantasy. And she's one of the most "uniquely sensual and provocative" heroines to emerge from the "fearless" imagination of New York Times bestselling author Anne Rice.
"Call her the It Girl of contemporary fiction. Whatever the venue, she's never too squeamish to reach out and touch it."-Rolling Stone
"Her voluptuous prose draws readers into an erotic landscape where the sensual delights are dark-edged...and utterly compelling."-Village Voice"A wry and richly textured diary of 'forbidden love.' A compelling blend of mystery and romance."-Kirkus Reviews
"Easily one of the most natural storytellers on the modern scene... Belinda is certainly her most controversial to date."-San Francisco Chronicle
Amazon.com Review An erotic and controversial tale of seduction and obsession from the best-selling author of Exit to Eden. Belinda is the ultimate fantasy. A golden-haired object of desire, fresh and uninhibited. But to Jeremy Walker, a handsome and famous 44-year old illustrator of children's books, Belinda is a forbidden passion, both beguiling and bewitching.

Awful!

My review of this book consists of the following adjectives: boring, mundane, tedious, stupid, pathetic. Worse - the protagonist is a self-pitying idiot! It was a complete waste of money!

I thought the book was good, like any Anne Rice book the characters are interesting and complex, like the plot in this one. A good read, worth it.

One Of Ms. Rice's Better Works
16 June, 2009
This is probably the last Anne Rice book I will ever read. I read all of her other works (even the Sleeping Beauty trilogy) with the exception of her new Christian novels. Belinda riveted me, and I kept wanting to read more and more, I was always disappointed when I had to set it down. For a love affair between a older man and a teenager, this really was well-written (not her best, but still rather good) and it saddens me to see that an author with such talent was reduced to writing the tripe of Blackwood Farm and Blood Canticle.

I really enjoy Anne Rice and her pen name works. This book however was soooo boring I read to page 97, couldn't take anymore and skimmed the rest reading the end. I don't know what Jeremy did to Belinda in New Orleans, or Marty, Blair, G.G., Alex, Bonnie, Susan etc roles in the outcome. I just didn't care. I am so glad I only paid $1.50 at a used book store for this waste of time, I have never been so disappointed and bored numb. The age difference between Belinda and Jeremy didn't bother me which I was surprised, the only thing I guess is that the "eroticism" was so bland and vanilla I missed it somewhere. Please save your money, I have no idea what these other reviewers are going on and on about unless they have never read Rice at her erotic best in the Beauty Trilogy.

You'll Be Rooting For Jeremy And Belinda In The End.
08 June, 2009
So I was a little wary when I first started reading the book; a 44 year old enraptured by a 16 year old. The media certainly gives this a grim perspective and I guess that's what drove me to believe that it's just lust between Jeremy and Belina and that's it.
What this book did, what Anne Rice did, made me really question whether it is ALWAYS wrong for one older person to be with a younger person. Because in this case, it was absolutely right. Because once they were torn apart, you'll be rooting for them to be brought back together again with not a notion of caution concerning their age. They're just two people who love one another.
Jeremy proclaims that he basically came alive, woke up when she came into his life. And Belinda vouches that he was truly the first man to ever care about her and look after her. They both agree that what they have is a love that is "one-in-a-lifetime" and I hope you do, too :) Simple enough, but when it comes to what the media and the world in general view of them, that's the conflict. And can they overcome that? I loved Belinda's character. She was forced to grow up very early, she's very energetic, well-poised, charming; The whole slew of characters all have interesting back stories and there are so many who are VIBRANT and entertaining. You'll enjoy learning of them because they seem larger-than-life.
In the end for me, it became good and evil forces conflicting on the love between Jeremy and Belinda. Is it right for these two lovers to be torn apart? Just because they have a wide age gape between them; don't they deserve to find happiness in each other? Decide for yourself. Simply put, this opened my eyes.
