Product Description In 1866, tragedy strikes at the exclusive Windfield School. A young student drowns in a mysterious accident involving a small circle of boys. The drowning and its aftermath initiates a spiraling circle of treachery that will span three decades and entwine many loves... From the exclusive men's club and brothels that cater to every dark desire of London's upper classes to the dazzling ballrooms and mahogany-paneled suites of the manipulators of the world's wealth, Ken Follett conjures up a stunning array of contrasts. This breathtaking novel portrays a family splintered by lust, bound by a shared legacy... men and women swept toward a perilous climax where greed, fed by the shocking truth of a boy's death, must be stopped, or not just one man's dreams, but those of a nation, will die...

This Is One Of The Best Books I Have Ever ... 16 March, 2008 ... had the pleasure of reading and I've read many, many books. It was one of those - cannot put down, just one more page before bed, can't wait to get back to - books. I probably read it more then 15 years ago, so I won't comment too much on plot, pros and cons. I'm about to start "Pillars of the Earth," so I'll have to re-read "Dangerous Fortune" a couple books after I finish Pillars and "World Without End." But, I remember LOVING this book, thinking how great it is with each passing page and how many people I have to lend it to. It was definitely my luck to just pick this book up bored one night many years ago. Follett is a great writer, but this book is one of his best ... fantastic!!!

Good Not Great 06 April, 2008 I thought this was a good book it started off a little slow but picked up with the deciept, mystery, and intrigue. It was easy so figure out in some parts but still good.

An enjoyable story. Another reason why Ken Follett is one of my favorite authors - particularly of historical novels.
