Product Description Since 1933, The Story About Ping has captivated generations of readers, but never before has it been available in a mass-market paperback format. No one can deny the appeal of the book's hero, Ping, the spirited little duck who lives on a boat on the Yangtze River. Ping's misadventures one night while exploring the world around his home form the basis of this timeless classic, which is brought to life by Kurt Wiese's warm and poignant illustrations.
Amazon.com Review The tale of a little duck alone on the Yangtze River, The Story About Ping is a sweet and funny book with wonderfully rich and colorful illustrations. On a day like any other, Ping sets off from the boat he calls home with his comically large family in search of "pleasant things to eat." On this particular day, he is accidentally left behind when the boat leaves. Undaunted, the little duck heads out onto the Yangtze in search of his family, only to find new friends and adventures--and a bit of peril--around every bend. The exceptional illustrations bring the lush Yangtze to life, from Ping's family to the trained fishing birds he finds himself among to the faithfully rendered boats and fishermen. Certainly intended to be read aloud, The Story About Ping deserves a place on every young reader's (or listener's) shelf. (Picture book)

Don't Take It So Seriously 10 July, 2008 People who find this book cruel are taking it too seriously. Most of all, this book has been loved by all 5 of my children. It is clever and fun, and has a happy ending. I plan to continue reading it to children and maybe someday grandchildren.

The Story About Ping 31 August, 2008 "The Story About Ping" is a book I have read to my children and now my grandchildren. It is a simple but fun tale about a small duck who gets separated from his family. In watching the events that occur to Ping before he is reunited with his family, we see many real life elements of the Chinese culture. This is a great book that could lead to a discussion about the importance and love of all family members, as well as the historical and cultural past of China.

A Favorite Of My Daughter's 01 June, 2008 I read this book to my daughter when she was a little girl and she loved it. The book is about a little duck that lives on a boat on the yellow Yantze river in China. The little duck leaves his family to go explore and finds himself in great danger, almost ending up as duck soup! He finds his way home again though, and realizes just how good it is to be "home".

Ping - An Old Story Still As Popular Today 18 August, 2008 I purchased this book because I had lost the school library's copy and it was my husband's favourite book as a child. When it arrived I read it to every class from Kindergarten to year six and they all loved it. It was a good lead into the Beijing Games but it also led into a study of cormorants, river dwelling, mapping, relationships and counting.I can highly recommend this ageless story.

Can't See What The Fuss Is All About. 15 September, 2008 I think most reviewers are a little hyper about something I just don't get. Yes it's quite clearly a good book for kids, and the analogy of Packet InterNet Groper is clever, but this reviewer gives it average mark.
