Truly Useful 06 August, 2008 Although I purchased this book after graduating college (over six years ago, now), I still find it useful on a regular basis. I have been able to use this as a reference book again and again, not only when applying for jobs, but also when reviewing others' resumes for hiring purposes, and when updating my own. This resource is far more helpful than many other resume books out there. It does not just give a list of "target" words. It shows you layout, wording, phrasing, what to add on, what to omit. I highly recommend this for everyone needing to (re)create their resume, not just for first time writers!

Direct And Excellent 24 July, 2006 I've read through this book and applied the lessons in it to develop various resumes for the jobs I've applied to with good results. The before and after of my resume shows an amazing difference, as well as my approach to applying to jobs and interviewing for them. It is all about gearing your presentation to the job at hand, and this also applies to the interview process. e.g. I was offered a math faculty chair position at a local community college, gotten interviews for excellent jobs, etc. Right now I'm happy with my current gig until I continue my education. I recommend its no-nonsense approach.

The Book A Technical Recruiter Uses To Write His Own Resume 05 March, 2003 I use this book when updating my own resume and when revising the resumes of others. I looked through a bunch of similar books and selected this one. I'm ordering more copies. I gave my last one to my wife for an assistant who'd been helpful to her but was being laid off. Using this book, the woman revised her resume and got a new job at the same company making $10k/yr more - probably a 25-30% increase. As a recruiter, I read thousands of resumes - most of them mediocre. That doesnt mean Im good at writing my own resume. I use the book's check lists to make sure I'm not missing anything. I regard a resume as the best piece of work an individual will ever do. Its amazing what you can tell about an individual by reading between the lines of his (or her) resume. What would you do with a Quality Engineer's resume that contains errors? [Toss]! Get this book and use it . . . please.
