 • Excellent Reference But Too Hard For Struggling Students
24 November, 2008

Obviously Ms. Sterling is very comfortable with her subject. But I found this book too wordy and only appropriate for stronger students (who usually don't need the help to begin with). There are hardly any visuals (except for graphs which don't really count) and there are no graphic organizers or other learning tools. There are simply more fun ways to teach some of this material (e.g. "See four terms? Think factor by grouping!") (This is probably being too picky, but the subscripts used to show reduced terms were so small as to be almost unreadable.) I also thought the author was unnecessarily gloomy and lacking in enthusiasm. For example, finding extraneous roots and then realizing that they are extraneous is part of the student's job and is not a waste of time as I felt the author was implying. Sorry, I am still looking for a solid Algebra 2 help book to recommend to my students.

This book was great preparation for the CSET. Better than other CSET exam prep books.

 • A Very Adequate Review Of Advanced Algebra
05 June, 2009

Being over 50 years old, I have a hard time remembering my high school algebra. As my children are now going through high school themselves, I definately needed a brush-up on my grasp of algebra to help them. This book is an excellent review test that will prepare one for most advanced algebra topics. I am working my way through it and have found it to be valuable in relearning advanced algebra. As other reviewers have commented, you must have a solid foundation in basic algebra for this book to be of value. Without that foundation, this book will bring confusion, not clarity. konedog

 • Good Book, Too Advanced For Me
09 February, 2009

The book came on time and has been helpful. But, I don't feel it's for someone who's really stuggling with Algebra.

 • Algebra 2 For Dummies Review
08 November, 2009

Yeah I'm guilty of being one of the Dummies out there who read this book and found it's approach to the subject much more informative than any of my high school teachers' lessons. A must read if you've ever had any trouble grasping the "higher maths" go back and read this book and you'll find advancement in math much easier indeed!
