Enthralling Yet Accessible Translation Of A Masterpiece 11 August, 2008 This new translation provides an enthralling yet accessible translation of a timeless masterpiece. Fagles achieves a tour de force at keeping the rhythm and pace of the latin hexameter without too much fluff. It helps the reader focus on and engage in the story.

Review For Kindle Ed. 23 February, 2008 I am writing this review for The Kindle ed of this book. (The Fagels translation). It is not formatted for the kindle. The sample looks fine because it is the introduction. But when you buy and begin reading the actual book, it is a poem. And it is not formatted for the Kindle. About 25% of the lines begin about 1" in, which on a 4 inch screen matters. The lines are irregualar with long blank areas and then starting in the middle of the screen. On some pages it is just lines of numbers going down the page. I love this edition of The Aeneid, I have the hardback and was really looking forward to it on my Kindle. But it isn't readable. I highly recommend Fagel's translation if you are not experienced with The Aeneid. It is like traveling with a close friend, but you won't be able to do it on your Kindle. At least not yet.
