Product Description

Develop a Winning Investment Strategy -- with Expert Advice from "The Nation's #1 Money Manager"

Peter Lynch's "invest in what you know" strategy has made him a household name with investors both big and small.

An important key to investing, Lynch says, is to remember that stocks are not lottery tickets. There's a company behind every stock and a reason companies -- and their stocks -- perform the way they do. In this book, newly revised and updated for the paperback edition, Peter Lynch shows you how you can become an expert in a company and how you can build a profitable investment portfolio, based on your own experience and insights and on straightforward do-it-yourself research. There's no reason the individual investor can't match wits with the experts, and this book will show you how.

In Beating the Street, Lynch for the first time:

* Explains how to devise a mutual fund strategy
* Shows how he goes about picking stocks, step-by-step
* Describes how the individual investor can improve his or her investment performance to rival that of the experts of the investment clubs.

Customer Reviews:

 • A Great Book On How A Prominent Investor Uses Value Investing Techniques.
11 November, 2009

Peter Lynch says it best - "In stocks as in romance, ease of divorce is not a sound basis for commitment. If you've chosen wisely to begin with, you won't want a divorce. And if you haven't, you're in a mess no matter what. All the liquidity in the world isn't going to save you from pain, suffering, and probably a loss of money." Value investing does work. Combining this strategy with a high growth strategy you are able to invest in fast money stocks while keeping your risk relatively low, and that is ultimately the key.

 • This Book Is A Classic
14 August, 2009

This book is simply a classic. Some might think it is old school, but is common sense investing ever out of style? Peter Lynch's investment philosophy is buying stocks of companies that he knows with P/E ratios not too high in relation to the growth rate. His famous advice is to visit the malls and observe which stores are the busiest. Watch people and notice which store names are on their shopping bags. And, finally, think for yourself instead of relying on tips. I totally agree with him on the fact that amateur investors have an advantage over Wall Street professionals. Amateurs do not have any restrictions as to how much of a portfolio can be allocated toward one stock. Every investor should read this book. - Mariusz Skonieczny, author of Why Are We So Clueless about the Stock Market? Learn how to invest your money, how to pick stocks, and how to make money in the stock market

 • Great Book, A Must Read For All Wanabe Investors!
31 August, 2009

This book, even though written in the 1980s, still applies today. Great for beginners since Lynch is very easy to read.

 • Successful Value Investor Share His Experience
19 January, 2010

Peter Lynch shares in his experience how to beat Wall Street in this book. Warren Buffett invite him to Omaha, NE. If Peter Lynch commented Ben Graham's The Intelligent Investor: The Definitive Book on Value Investing. A Book of Practical Counsel (Revised Edition), he would have done a much better job than Jason Zweig
