Product Description "So view, and get over it." And so begins the lighthearted attempt of Scary Clowns to relieve coulrophobes of their fear of "grotesquely made-up men wearing overly large trousers, huge shoes, and a red nose." This fear may seem as amusing as the characters that inspire it, but numerous support groups and hundreds of Web sites are dedicated to coulrophobia. Horror movies featuring killer clowns, as well as notorious clown/serial killer John Wayne Gacy, have only fed the fear. Over 80 full-color photographs-from the surreal to the grotesque-populate Scary Clowns, bringing readers face to face with their worst nightmares. A pop-up clown in the middle of the book forces the reader to confront his darkest fear in 3-D. It is all done in the name of good, clean fun, of course. Why are seemingly innocuous clowns so horrifying to so many people? The introduction in Scary Clowns attempts to demystify the strange phobia. By nature silent, a clown makes no noise or complaint as he falls over, throws things, plays with knives, walks on high wires, tumbles, turns, and collapses. Maybe it's the silence that makes him so scary.

Creepy Ha-ha 12 June, 2006 What a great idea. This is a small hardback with loads of photographs of clowns - real ones, from way back when right up to now. None of them are of slasher movie clowns or specially created Killer Klowns, they're all real. Which makes them more scary. There's also a great surprise in the middle of the book. The captions are at the back though, which means you have to keep turning back to see who's who, but they're really creepy, too.
The blurb says that looking at this is a great way to get over coulrophobia, but it could just as well give you the fear of clowns.

Disappointing And Dismal 17 February, 2007 This book does not even deserve one star! It is that "bad" a publication!! To say that this book is disappointing and dismal is an understatement -- it is yet another horrible attempt to feed into the fear of clowns and thereby deprive the world of the pleasure of laughter. This author takes photos of famous and beautiful clowns and tries to make them ugly for the simple pursuit of $$$$. Many of the photos that were included were used without permission of the persons photographed -- how do I know? I know because I am friends with some of the clowns pictured. They were as shocked as I was at being included in this publication. Shame, shame, SHAME on not only the author, but the publisher, as well.
