Editorial Review / Publisher's Information:
Product Description America's worst nightmare has just become a brutal reality. The most unlikely terrorist enemy of all now holds a knife against the country's throat. With both diplomatic and conventional military options swept from the table, the president of the United States calls upon America's only hope, Navy SEAL turned Secret Service agent Scot Harvath. With the fragile peace between the world's nations shattered, Harvath must unravel a brilliantly orchestrated, fiendishly timed conspiracy intent upon bringing the United States to its knees. Teamed with beautiful Russian Intelligence agent Alexandra Ivanova and a highly trained CIA paramilitary detachment, Harvath races from the corridors of power in Washington, D.C., to the streets of Berlin, the coast of Finland, and into the heart of Mother Russia herself before returning home for a final showdown with an enemy from America's past more sinister and deadly than has ever been seen before....

From Russia to London to Langley, Virginia, Brad Thor weaves a story of mystery, espionage and intrigue. Follow the trail of a super spy as he thwarts a secret plot to rob America of her most prized possession. Just Like Old Faithful...
04 March, 2010
OK seriously... my praise of Brad Thor is almost getting to the point of being repetitiously nauseating. I mean this man just does not miss! To be fair, this one did have a slight speed bump in the beginning that I wasn't accustomed to by Brad Thor... but it passed. The evil morons in this story is Russia and they have put into motion a terrorist act to grand that I *almost* thought this would be one mission that that Scot wouldn't be able to complete. Stupid assumption... I really should know better.
`State of the Union' is classic Brad Thor. "Classic" in this case meaning, "a creation of the highest excellence". Not the traditional "classic; it has to be around for twenty years before we can call it that" definition. Rack up another winner for Brad!

Exciting, Albeit Simple.
06 May, 2009
Brad Thor's novels are extremely fun to read and quite captivating, a la Matthew Reilley, but just like the aforementioned author, he writes with such a simple, action-packed prose, that it is hard to reccomend to others, unless of course that is what you are looking for. But really, it is a thriller novel, you shouldn't go into it expecting Faulkner, expect Hemingway.

Really Bad
06 July, 2009
The creators of Scooby Doo have taken to writing action thrillers. One-dimensional, heavily stereotyped characters make their way through the world while just happening to always be in the right place at the right time with all the right equipment. If there was any more Deus ex machina in these novels, Thor would have to write himself in as a character. I am not a generally a critical reader, but I just had to put this one down.
