Product Description A ship's pilot legendary for guiding mammoth freighters through the narrows of Puget Sound, Rolf Neslund was a proud Norwegian, a ladies' man, and a beloved resident of Washington State's idyllic Lopez Island. Virtually indestructible even into his golden years, he made electrifying headlines more than once: after a ship he was helming crashed into the soaring West Seattle Bridge, causing millions in damages; and following his inexplicable disappearance at age 80. Was he a suicide, a man broken by one costly misstep? Had he run off with a lifelong love? Or did a trail of gruesome evidence lead to the home Rolf shared with his wife, Ruth? On an island where everyone thought they knew their neighbors, the veneer of the Neslunds' marriage masked a convoluted case that took many years to solve. And, indeed, some still believe that the old sea captain will come home one day. "The Sea Captain" is a classic tale as blood chilling as murder itself. Along with six other equally riveting, detailed accounts of destruction and murder committed without conscience or regret, Ann Rule takes readers into frightening places they never could have imagined in No Regrets.

Interesting Stories, But Poorly Written 03 January, 2008 I usually try to enjoy Ann Rule`s books for what they are...decent retellings of infamous cases. Although her longer works are usually better than these collections (Green River Running Red stands out) I thought this book was rather poorly written. Her phrasing was often lazy as she used certain descriptive terms over and over again. Also, in the book`s second story, she reports several items wrongly, most notably the name of the song that supposedly enraged her while she recounted that particular tale. Overall, it was a disappointing writing effort from an author who should know better.

Calling All Ann Rule Fans.....a Must Read!! 17 August, 2007 I do not know how Ann Rule never disappoints me with all of the books of the neverending crime that only she can tell & describe so that you feel you are there. The way she explains the event in details, the investigation steps to finally discover the crime, & the clues that solve the event keeps you on the end of your seat. THIS IS A MUST READ!!

Great Reading 24 November, 2007 I was particularly interested in this book because I lived on a neighboring island in the San Juans when the case of Ruth Neslund was ongoing and was acquainted with some of the people mentioned in the book. I never quite understood at the time why Ruth was found guilty of killing her husband without a body being located. Ann Rule's book was very good in explaining how that happened and the case work that led up to it. Although a few reviewers might have considered all the details tedious, it's all necessary to understand why Ruth Neslund was charged and convicted.

No Regrets( Ann Rules's Crime Files, Vol 11 02 August, 2007 Finally! Justice for A man who was more misguided than the Boat that was once Piloted by Him into that Washington State Bridge. Ann Rule is awesome at writing the truth.

Another Must Read From Ann Rule! 29 September, 2007 If you are already a fan of Ann Rule, "No Regrets" will not disappoint! The book contains several stories of true crime written in Ann's typical style. It's hard to put down the book until you find out what really happened and "whodunit". I love how Ann digs deeply into the past lives of the people in the stories, and how she puts all the pieces together. It's like a literary puzzle which solves itself as you read on. I've been a huge fan of Ann Rule, former Seattle police woman-turned true crime author, for many years and I've already pre-ordered her next book from Amazon which is due out in November 2007.
