Product Description
The world-renowned fitness coach on the hit TV show The Biggest Loser presents his winning approach to lasting weight loss by showing how to get at the root of your overeating problem, followed by a nutritionally savvy diet and unique exercise plan. On The Biggest Loser, Bob Harper gives contestants the practical tools and psychological insights they need to get into the best shape of their lives. The key to his success is the emotional connection he makes with each participant, and he brings that same spirit to Are You Ready!
Harper starts with a four-step strategy for getting at the root of negative thought patterns and destructive behaviors, replacing both with a clear way to build self-worth and confidence. With these tools in place, people are empowered to make real, lasting changes in their lives. In an easy-to-follow eating plan, he provides lists of foods that are nutrient-dense and naturally low in calories, more than twenty sample menus, and tips on eating on the run, in restaurants, and on vacation. His fitness plan is geared to making exercise an integral part of daily life with workouts (ranging from 20 to 60 minutes) based on training techniques that tone and strengthen, burn calories, and reshape the body.
Woven throughout Are You Ready! are true-life success stories that will keep readers engaged and motivated; bulleted tips, tools, and coping strategies; and sidebars debunking common myths about food and fitness. Whether your goal is losing ten pounds or a hundred, you will find Harper’s message inspiring and his methods a proven path to finally achieving your dream of weight loss and fitness.

Helps You Find The Root Cause Of Your Weight Problems! 18 November, 2008 It's rare that I take the time to get online to give a review of a product I have purchased. This book has made such an impact in my life in just a few short days that I had to get on and write about it. I first heard about the book in an advertisement in Oxygen Magazine. I admit I got it for the workouts and diet plan, and figured his no nonsense approach would be a good fit for my personality. I was not expecting his "inner compass" work to do me much good. Boy was I shocked. He teaches you that you have to stop and think about why you want to eat when you do - if it's hunger related or emotion related - and if it's emotion related to stop and think about what your feelings are and why you're wanting to overeat. My main problem was I was eating all the time at work. I was good at home - but at work I was terrible. Since reading this book and getting "in touch" with my feelings - I have discovered that I only reach for food when faced with a task that I don't want to do. So instead I reach for food to distract me, or to make the task seem less grueling. Now I know we all have our own reasons for why we overeat... but to finally get the real reason means I'm now able to deal with it. Knowledge is power. I've also learned to stop beating myself up and to accept my accomplishments. For so long I berate myself, truly believing I was a failure because I had not reached my overall weight loss goal. I didn't see the 70 pounds I have lost and kept off as an accomplishment because I've been stagnant and haven't lost the rest. Now I force myself to recognize what I have done, and take pride in that. I just think this book is excellent if you really read it and do the exercises, and really try to get to the root cause of your weight problems. I highly recommend, and plan on giving it to some of my close friends in the hopes that it will touch their life as it has touched mine.
