Product Description
How powerful is integrity? Just ask minister-turned-statesman, Mike Huckabee.  As lieutenant governor of Arkansas in 1996, he was publicly cast between the ultimate rock and hard place when his boss, governor Jim Guy Tucker, refused to resign despite his felony convictions in the Whitewater scandal.  Holding fast to the tenets of honor and faith, and his concern over what was best for the state’s people, Huckabee led the impeachment charge against his superior before a televised audience. That same day, Tucker resigned, and Huckabee would serve as governor of Arkansas until 2007, winning many national honors along the way. Character Makes a Difference is Mike Huckabee’s biographical account of how he handled that potentially major constitutional crisis and why he believes character is the key issue in everyone’s life, “in the work you do, the candidates you vote for, the people who look to you for leadership.â€

Customer Reviews:

 • Slow Moving And Predictable Book
02 December, 2008

As much as I "adore" Mike this is a slow moving book with predictable story lines. Unless you live in Arkansas, there is not much of interest in these stories.

 • Uplifting And Real
25 December, 2008

It amazes me to think that last year I knew little to nothing about the former Governor of Arkansas. Then out of nowhere he steps onto the political scene to endear us with his thoughts. His stories are full of cheer and heartwarming considerations applicable to all of us. My first thoughts about buying his book was that he would be another political hack similar to others we have grown to know and yes even elect. These words are from a man who has far more depth than I would have thought. You might describe him in several different ways but one word that stands out above all the others is Character. He has it in abundance. I'll permit your reading his words first and see if you feel the same.

 • Very Good

I gave this book to my husband and he said it was "very good." That means a lot coming from him.

If you are tuned in to Mike Huckabee, you will want to read this book. It is classic HUCKABEE.

 • History Repeats Itself
28 June, 2009

This is America's eleventh hour! Our democracy is morally, politically, and economically bankrupt. I suggest we stop hiding behind "trashy best-sellers" and pore over Mike Huckabee's book. If for no other reason, at least to grasp a sense of ominous reality and sobering history. As a former Cuban refugee (50 years ago) I see so many similarities between my former country before Castro's revolution and the US today, that sometimes I think I'm re-living a nightmare. Andrew J. Rodriguez Award-winning author: "Adios, Havana," a Memoir
