 • Good Advice, But Only For People Who Are Likeable In The First Place
04 October, 2009

I read through this book quickly, and most of the advice is effective because the author's central idea is simple and true: treat everyone you meet as though they're equally important, fascinating and valuable to you. The book breaks it down into specific techniques for transmitting this message to everyone from store clerks to romantic interests. Some of the techniques might come across as manipulative though, even Machiavellian in the wrong hands. There are many subconscious tells that signal a person's true intentions and can't be practiced away. I think the advice would work best for people who are a bit socially awkward, but decent and well-intentioned at heart. People who aren't nice will just seem like sleazy used car salesmen. Also, ladies: some of the advice - lingering touches and holding eye contact for longer than usual, for instance - could easily be read as sexual signals by male strangers. Might want to consider this before trying it on every postman and pizza guy you meet!

 • Leil Lowndes' Other Books Are Better.
18 November, 2009

Ms. Lowndes' other books are a far better read than this one. This book doesn't seem to be as well thought out as her other books such as "How To Instantly Connect With Anyone" and "How To Talk To Anyone". Read the other two books instead of this one. Give the other two books as high school graduation gifts. We all need to improve our people skills.

 • Leil Lowndes - How To Be A People Magnet
10 January, 2010

Leil Lowndes is one of the leading experts on body language reading ways to connect with people socially and in business so you can indeed be "Finding Friends - and Lovers - and Keeping Them for Life." Her best-selling author status and prolific writing for more than 10 year on body language and seduction Undercover Sex Signals: A Pickup Guide For Guys is indisputable. I'm certainly biased as a fan of her work. Every single one of her many books which I've read I've learned from and thoroughly enjoyed. Not only is the information she provides cutting edge and presented in a clear manner which I can easily follow, but her fun attitude permeates this book and is infectious. Each People Magnet tip is illustrated with a clear case study example, making it concrete and easy to grasp and implement including, "Ways to Say I Love You to a Friend," Daring to Be Different, and keeping a diverse mix of friends. Highly recommend.

 • Just Ok
27 March, 2009

This is ok. It gives some good tips but mostly it seems like they are things that worked for her personally. I didn't feel like these were well thought out for the average person.

 • A People Magnet Already?
28 May, 2009

This book is a good start if you are a shy person and want to become more extroverted. If you are a social person already, don't bother. It is really well written.
