Customer Reviews:

 • Good Content. The Format Is Too Large.
12 June, 2008

A thorough and well written book about constructing rocket motors on an amateur level. A lot of work has been put in to produce this book. The format, however, is too large, and makes the book a bit clumpsy to use and to bring somewhere you'd want to construct rocket motors (it is a instruction book and should be in a managable size).

 • Obsolete Info
16 May, 2008

I was disapointed with this book, basically it's a reprint of old material. The majority of the book is machinist drawings of needed tools, that unless your a machinist, forget it ! yes, there are alternatives mentioned but they lack the quality needed to construct and use practically. Notice the other reviews are years old and may have reflected times back then, but the info today is old and obsolete. All the websites mentioned in the book are no longer active and since dead.I bought the book because it claimed build homemade motors from "C to G",not so !! The motors illustrated are of a phyically different size and have to be modified to fit any standard rocket. You are to wrap tape around the motor until it fits in your rocket,I would be too embarassed to suggest that if I wrote the book. I would have like to have seen "anything" mentioned about reloads for Aerotec motors. It seems that reloads for reloadable motors would have been a great chapter and highly sought after, but not a single word on the subject, evidence of old info. The chemical formulations are okay, but alittle more effort in updateing this book should have done before reprinting it. I've tried to contact the author many times only to be ignored, apparently the only concern is selling copies not interest in the subject.

 • Best Book Ever Written About Rocket Motors!
28 June, 2007

I have read this book, and the reread it, it is very informative, and educational as well, it tells you the do's and don't of motor building , how to make, and get, and improvise, your own motors. Step by step instructions and I only wish there were more books written about technical "Hobbies" like this one, since most Americans shy away for fear of local state and federal laws, when in fact you can make excellent Model Rocket Motors with sugar and a simple safe easily obtainable nitrate! Not a thing more to make it "blast off" Even if you don't make the motors, its a FUN read and very educational for the novice chemistry and physic students. I loved it! I recommend it....
