Editorial Review / Publisher's Information:

Product Description
Grandparents have changed! The stereotype of the fragile, white-haired retiree has been shattered. Today's grandparents are active and involved- in everything from careers to fitness to dating. They are 'thirty-something' to one hundred plus- and every age in between. Grandparent's roles have also changed, as have many of their situations. While some may be grand-parenting within a 'traditional' family, others may be facing new challenges such as: acting as a stabilising force during times of family upheaval, providing day care for a grandchild, furnishing temporary living arrangements for an adult child and grandchild, filling the role of 'Mum' and 'Dad' for a grandchild, blending step-grandchildren with biological grandchildren. Whatever the unique situation, parenting expert Jim Fay shows grandparents how to develop enjoyable, fulfilling relationships with both their adult children - while helping grandchildren grow into responsible, caring young people.

 • Highly Recommend This Book
09 March, 2007

Very good information for the grandparent to follow, to aid the parents and back them up. Consistancy helps both the child and the parents and I found this very helpful.

 • Not Sure B. Beaux's Agenda But This Book Is Phenominal!
18 August, 2006

B. Beaux's review is not even for this book - it seems as though his political agenda should be put in a blog not a book review. I was a teacher so I am extremely familiar with Love and Logic - they are based out of Evergreen - not Colorado Springs and have no affiliation with any "christian cult". I gave this book to my mother and it is so refreshing to have parents and grandparents on the same page as far as dealing with the kids goes. It helps avoid a ton of potential arguements. My mother and father just loved it! They actually told me they wished this was around when I was younger because they would have loved to use it on me (I was a bit of a trouble maker).

 • How To Become A Good Grandfather
12 October, 2008

I found the practical advise that I needed to be able to deal with my 7 grandkids (all under 8). Easy to read and easy to apply. Good solid advise about how to deal with your grown up kids and their children. Exactly what I was looking for when searching for grandparenting guideance.

We really were not able to give a first hand review of this book, but based on all the other Love and Logic books we have studied we have much confidence in it.

 • Outdated- Advocates Spanking
13 June, 2008

I have been a huge advocate of all the other Love and Logic books, and am greatly disappointed to see that this book advocates spanking. The more recent publications do not. This book needs to be released with a correction to the spanking portion, or pulled from the marked entirely, as it does not comply with the author's current views on spanking. I WAS planning on giving the book as a gift to my parents. Instead, I am returning the book to amazon.com at my cost.
