Thought-provoking Indeed! 21 June, 2009 Meet Jake Colsen, Associate Pastor. He has it all. A good job with more than adequate salary, a loving wife, two children, and plenty of respect and prestige.
But then he meets John and his world turns upside down. Could this stranger be the Apostle John, still alive, still spreading the gospel?
Over the next four years, through a series of conversations with John, Jake goes on a personal odyssey that makes him rethink everything he thought he knew about God and the church as a whole. In the process, he loses everything he thought was important, but discovers a whole new life, and a whole new relationship with the Father.

Spiritual Mentors Rarely Show Up Mysteriously 24 June, 2009 If we were as fortunate as Jake in having a God-given, wise and loving spiritual mentor show up mysteriously in our life just when we need him, we probably wouldn't need organized religion either.
Most of us aren't that fortunate. Looking for a mentor, we probably have the best chance inside the organized church where hurts happen just as the book describes. Yet, I'm sure they happen in unconventional Christian fellowships as well.
Why 5 stars?
He shows us what a new kind of fellowship might look like and encourages us to seek it. 5 Stars because sharing this kind of fellowship, in or outside the traditional church, is honest and beautiful and well worth the effort.
