This product is expensive! Is it worth it?
I have been teaching Spanish and French in local nursery schools & daycares in NJ for eight years. It is great to encourage parents to teach their little ones. Some excellent product series have appeared in the last four years: the Ana Lomba books & tapes, the Professor Toto DVD's, the Language Tree French/Spanish for Kids DVD's, Whistlefritz' "Los Animales" and SpanishPlaytime's "Muevete" (last 2 Sp. only).
This workbook/CD is inappropriate for ages 3-5, who need gross-motor activity, music, color, big tactile props. You can do far better for same or better price with items mentioned above, or even old tried-and-true song-&-picture series like Barbara MacArthur's (Sing/Dance/Eat Quiche/Tacos) or Judy Mahoney's (Teach Me French/ Spanish).

• Fun Introduction To Spanish 15 June, 2008
Here's a Spanish introduction program for your younger children that is both fun and interactive, and perfect for the parent who has no background in Spanish or foreign language instruction. This spiral bound workbook is designed with every other page inverted, allowing the child to fold the page over to concentrate on one page at a time. Once the first 7 lessons are completed, the book is then flipped over to continue on with the second half. New items are introduced and reviewed on the flip journey. The content covers basic Spanish words and phrases, with the goal for the child to have a working knowledge of Spanish in about 3 months. Some of the lessons require some simple writing, so unless your child is advanced in this skill, you'll need to write out their answers. The workbook comes with a companion CD, a huge bonus that will help with listening and speaking practice.
There are also supplemental flash cards and a really cool Spanish activity calendar. The calendar offers 12 months of learning a Spanish word a day and includes a 240+ word glossary. Kids can color the calendar, and complete various activities. The calendar is appropriate for all ages and can be used as a supplement or can stand alone as an introductory Spanish program.
It's interesting to note the author is a homeschooling mom who is also a bilingual Spanish teacher. If you're looking for an engaging, easy introduction to Spanish, check out Flip-Flop Spanish, The author has definitely gone out of her way to make learning a second language cheery and non-threatening, I can't imagine a child not finding this approach enjoyable, which is the way learning should be.

• Excellent Learning Tool 29 October, 2008
I was referred to the Flip Flop Spanish by a friend who picked it up for her children. I thought it was a fantastic learning tool for my kids and they truly enjoy the books. I really found the CD helpful for the pronunciations and I enjoy using the flash cards with my kids. It has been a learning process for us all. They are engaging, which is important for a child learning, and I have them all now. I am even purchasing more to give as gifts to other friends and family for their children. We have used other products, but have found that Flip Flop Spanish really works for us. Thank you Senora Gose for your creative and innovative learning techniques and I hope to be able to see more of them. I am definitely going to spread the word!

• Poorly Made And Overly Priced 06 October, 2008
The quality of this book and cd are sub par. There are much much better products out there that are made by professional publishing companies and at a lower price. Some of these have also been shipped without the CD.
Most of the reviews here, I believe, are friends of the author. You will notice similarities between their locations and their reviews of other products by the author.
Do yourself a favor and "steer" clear of this one.

I was very excited when I received Flip Flop Spanish.
I loved the "flip flop" approach and in all my years of teaching had never seen a book done in this format. By alternating the layout of the pages, it makes it much easier to focus on one lesson at a time. This works well for a child (and mother) that get easily distracted. The lessons were short enough to engage my 3 year old and simple enough for her to retain what was learned. The cd was a great addition and enhanced the learning. I would reccomend this tool to anyone, young or old, trying to learn a second language!
