Product Description

If You Could Change Your Life by Reversing Your Biggest Regrets, Sorrows and Mistakes...Would You?

#1 New York Times bestselling author and renowned radio and television host Glenn Beck delivers an instant holiday classic about boyhood memories, wrenching life lessons, and the true meaning of the gifts we give to one another in love.

We weren't wealthy, we weren't poor -- we just were. We never wanted for anything, except maybe more time together....

When Eddie was twelve years old, all he wanted for Christmas was a bike. Although his life had gotten harder -- and money tighter -- since his father died and the family bakery closed...Eddie dreamed that somehow his mother would find a way to have his dream bike gleaming beside their modest Christmas tree that magical morning.

What he got from her instead was a sweater. "A stupid, handmade, ugly sweater" that young Eddie left in a crumpled ball in the corner of his room.

Scarred deeply by the realization that kids don't always get what they want, and too young to understand that he already owned life's most valuable treasures, that Christmas morning was the beginning of Eddie's dark and painful journey on the road to manhood. It will take wrestling with himself, his faith, and his family -- and the guidance of a mysterious neighbor named Russell -- to help Eddie find his path through the storm clouds of life and finally see the real significance of that simple gift his mother had crafted by hand with love in her heart.

Based on a deeply personal true story, The Christmas Sweater is a warm and poignant tale of family, faith and forgiveness that offers us a glimpse of our own lives -- while also making us question if we really know what's most important in them.

The book was similar to the Shack. It was attention getting at first but as I read on I became engrosed in the story that was bitter with the world around him and later found he was creating his own bitterness. Great book for all.

Glenn Beck did an amazing job of communicating the principles of loving someone to the degree that you put yourself second. Having lost a mother too, I understood....

 • I Enjoyed It..
06 June, 2009

This book is at many times upsetting and depressing but you want to keep on reading it and do not want to put it down. After reading it, you really feel grateful for all of the things that you have and take for granted. It was interesting to get a glimpse of Glenn Beck's childhood from an indirect view point. This book is not a political book at all. There is a little bit of religion and God in it but I am not religious at all and still enjoyed reading this book. It is a really quick read and I recommend reading this book. I gave the book 4/5 stars because I enjoyed reading it but it still is not one of my favorites.

 • The Christmas Sweater
05 June, 2009

As children, we thrive in an environment of stability with the love and guidance of our parents. We eagerly look forward to finding our most desired presents under the tree on Christmas morning. But what happens if our father is suddenly taken from us, leaving us somewhat destitute ... with mother struggling to make ends meet? Stability is suddenly cast aside as we try to make sense of what is happening. Christmas looks very bleak, but we still wish for a miracle so we can receive the gift of our dreams. And the Christmas sweater? Our dream? What a disappointment. And yet what would happen if our mother is suddenly taken from us as well? What kind of life will we have now? "The Christmas Sweater", by Glenn Beck, is his true story... the turmoil he lived through, and the struggles he encountered. And just who was Russell, anyway? This book will wrap itself around your heart and cause you to ponder at what is really important in our lives.
