Product Description
Essential for all aviation industry professionals, this comprehensive dictionary explores more than 10,000 aviation-specific terms, phrases, and acronyms. Nearly 500 illustrations, tables, and lists supplement the detailed explanations of aviation terminology gathered from 14 CFR Part 1, the AIM Pilot/Controller glossary, and government publications. Indispensable for anyone involved with aviation, and especially useful for newcomers or those who speak English as a second language, this reference also includes valuable appendices that contain the periodic table, the phonetic alphabet, and Morse code.

Customer Reviews:

 • Worthwhile For A Mechanic
28 May, 2007

This was a required book for my A&P program. We haven't used it a ton but it has definitely come in handy from time to time. Some of the definitions are circular -- two definitions each referring to the other -- but for the most part they are clear and concise, quite helpful.

 • A Pilot's Comments
13 December, 1999

Although this dictionary is big, there are a significant number of terms I was unable to find that are important to instrument/commercial pilots - visual descent point (VDP), for example.Seems to be more engineering/maintenance oriented because those types of terms are exhaustively covered.

 • Useful For An Entry-level Engineer In Aerospace
05 March, 2004

I am an entry-level engineer in an aerospace company. I found that this dictionary is useful for understanding some of the terms that are used.

 • Great Dictionary
29 February, 2008

This dictionary has everything you need in it. Im in A&P School and I use it every day. And other students borrow it on a regulay basis. It keeps me from running to the computer every time I need to understand something.
