Buyer Beware! 17 November, 2007 I did NOT get the item pictured, but a mid year update of the FAR/AIM, NOT the 2008 version. I figured it was too much hassle to make it right with Amazon. I will NEVER buy from Amazon again! I'll pay the gas to go to the bookstore next time!

Current, Accurate, Handy 27 November, 2007 This is the most reliable FAR/AIM on the market; I consistently received Updates via the free email subscription service all last year. I get one every year and have never been disappointed.

The Resource 13 October, 2008 This is THE central resource for General Aviation knowledge. The first half includes a substantial portion of the "Federal Aviation Regularions", and the NTSB reporting requirements. This is REALLY hard to find in PDF as a combined tome, but here it is for very little money.
The second half of the book is the "Aeronautical Information Manual". This is the HOWTO for operating withing the "National Airspace System". Radionavigation, how it works, how to use it, how to communicate with ATC during different phase of flight, etc.
This book, along with the "Airplane Flying Manual" will provide you with reference for self or guided study before, during and after flight training.
