Andrea Gabriel has created a wonderful story with lively illustrations that capture the attention of my little readers. It's simple for them to understand, and they love looking at the variety of bears throught the book. A great addition to any collection!

I'm giving this one five stars primarily because of the art work, which is quite good, and also due the the fact that I am rather fond of bears. The author has given us a series of bear pictures done in a realistic mode, slightly fuzzed and soft. Her subject of course, is bears. The book opens with the mother bear and her cub and then goes through a series of pictures and simple rhymes addressing a number of different kinds of bears, where they live, what they eat and how they live. The story is of course about the love between the mom bear and the baby bear (my favorite bear of course is the cub). The author has given a small index at the back of the book discribing and telling some facts about the various types of bears featured in the book. Not only is this a nice and mellow story, simply told, but it is also loaded with facts for the parent, grandparent or reader to use to discuss bears with the little ones. It is rather nice to read about the mom bear and her cub cuttled up while you cuttle up with your own cub at bedtime. Recommend this one highly.

"My Favorite Bear" is beautifully illustrated. It's very charming and can be used as a bedtime story or as a Read Aloud for young children. My Kindergarteners loved it. I love picture books and this is a great addition to my collection.
