Product Description
Quilting 101 is a modern-day primer on the basic skills and techniques of quilting. This book is geared toward the absolute novice and assumes you know little or nothing about the crafts of sewing or quilting. Filled with lots of step-by-step photos, useful quilting tip sidebars, and a detailed glossary, Quilting 101 teaches you how to quilt successfully, even if you have never sewn before. You will learn terminology used regularly in quilting as well as all the basic skills that are the building blocks of the art. From threading the machine and sewing a straight stitch, this book expertly leads you every step of the way to completing more than twenty different quilted projects. The first section includes such topics as: the sewing machine and its accessories, sewing and quilting supplies and how to use them, how to shop for, prepare and cut fabrics, as well as a detailed look at every step of the quilting process. New skills are taught via the creation of an actual quilted project, such as a pillow, placemats, wall hanging or lap quilt, thereby allowing you to learn a new skill and create a useful item for yourself or a friend. Now even non-sewers can become confident quilters!'

Very Helpful! 03 August, 2008 The book was more than I could have imagined. I've never quilted a day in my life, but with this book I feel as if I can make anything my mind can illustrate. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn how to quilt. Thanks!

Great--even If You Know How To Sew! 06 April, 2008 I have a good amount of sewing experience so I was hesitant about purchasing this book thinking it might be too basic. Also, I wondered if I would be interested in actually completing many of the projects. I am glad I made the purchase! I have no experience in machine quilting so I appreciate the detailed, simple instructions. Most of the projects are ones I actually want to make and use or could give as gifts. I would say more except that I would just be echoing all the positive things previously written. If you would rather learn machine quilting from a book rather than a in a quilting class, this is the book for you!

Highly Recomend This Book 02 January, 2008 A friend bought this book for my 13 year old daughter. She is new to quilting and using a sewing machine, and has found this book so easy to follow.

Great Book For Beginners! 11 April, 2008 This is a wonderful how-to book for beginning quilters. It has step-by-step instructions for many different projects and includes many of the most popular quilting patterns. The projects are modest (squares, runners, placemats, totes, wall hangings, etc.) and well matched to a beginner's skill progression. The price is very reasonable also. All in all, it is a very good buy.
