 • Pvc Rocket Engine
24 November, 2008

This is an AWESOME book with easy to follow instructions, pictures, and part numbers for all tools and supplies used. Anyone can build this very powerful and reliable motor. I have plenty of other rocket motor building books and this is BY FAR the easiest to follow. To make things even better most of the supplies can be found locally. This book is very much worth getting even if all you are is curious on how it's done.

 • Constructing A K450 Pvc Rocket Motor
30 May, 2008

I own a great many "do-it-yourself" books on model rocketry and constructing rocket motors. This book is by far the best one ever on how to build a LARGE rocket motor. It is well written and the photographs are excellent. It shows how to do every step of the process. The actual building of the motor is straight forward and "do-able". The test firing of this motor is not for the faint of heart. WOW!!! Be sure it is well anchored down....I have not flown a model with this motor yet...Just test fired...not measured the pounds of thrust....just tested to see if it works...IT DOES!!! If I had to say one negative thing about this book, it would be that there are no plans for a simple rocket to build to fly with this motor. The chemicals used in this book are easily bought on the Internet (and legal), the casting of the grain is easy and NOT complicated. You will need a large launch area (way in the country) for this monster. Once again, I am very happy with this book. I figure it is a cost of about $20 to construct one motor.,assuming one has all the tools already bought. I will be using the tried and true formula for constructing the rocket.....always have 6 times the thrust verses the weight of the rocket....

 • Pvc Rocket Engine
29 October, 2008

Dan has been building large rocket motors and rockets for many years and this book covers one of his most reliable large motors. This is not a scientific explanation with complicated equations and theory. This is a step-by-step explanation of how to make this large and reliable rocket motor from commonly available materials. There is nothing left to scratch your head over. It is precise and includes every last detail. Anyone with average home garage type skills should have no trouble making this motor successfully. This book uses tons of pictures in addition to the text so you can not only read how but see just how each step is done. He has now released his second edition to this book which is entitled "PVC Rocket Engine." It is now in soft bound 6" X 9" format with black and white pictures and glue binding. The second edition has added a few revised techniques that make some steps easier or use better tools, etc. I have been experimenting with my own rocket engines off and on since the 1970's so am very familiar with this subject and am pleased to offer my endorsement (for whatever it is worth) as a book I highly recommend. You should also take a look at his second book, M80 Rocket Powered Skateboard.
